That's a good start! SNP has plenty of options and lots of tweaking that can make it as close to your view as possible, including using an image of your observing spot in the app itself. You got me going in the right direction ! I understand about the fold out tabs on the left and have been tweeking on the OPTIONS tab those already as far as MAG and other variables are concerned. I assume that this is the list that you are talking about. Here is a screen shot I made of the options tab and other. Opps sorry !!ĭonnie no need to apologize, after almost fifty years I've been called worse! SOLAR SAFETY STARRY NIGHT PRO 6 HOW TOHi Carl Kolchak or Richard - I am sorry as I am not sure how to address you as in your sig, you have Richard H and in your profile you have Carl. SOLAR SAFETY STARRY NIGHT PRO 6 FULLSN Pro does not like this - you get a full page of stars whether you are zoomed out or zoomed in. I also noticed that like Stellarium and Chartes de Ciel that the wider you zoom out, the less stars and the more you zoom in naturally, the more stars you see. Other than that, it is pretty good, but for $149 - it should allow me to do more and the controls should not have such wild interations. You can cheat and use the Brightness and contrast and that messes it all up. So, you have a few sliders that either increase or decrease the mag. It just says that you have at your disposal all of these millions of stars. With SN pro, there is no mention as to any catalog. Just like the Chartes de ceil, you can add or turn on and off The Tycho, etal. I also noticed that the SN pro has NO star catalog for adjustments. All of the controls have way to much interaction between them, I swear, it is driving me nuts.ĭoes anyone have SN pro or enthusiast or any version. Photographic just about takes all the stars away. In the preferences, they even have blury, photographic, crisp, ect and I can not tell any difference at all between any of these settings. To much of my dismay and tinkering with all of the star mag ranges, night pollution ranges, Light year ranges, and even the brightness-contrast setting in Preferences, I just can not get the SN to act like I want it to. However, after seeing the multitudes of stars, I started looking around to see how I can reduce all of this down to the sky looking like (within range of my night sky in my backyard). I got the Starry Night Pro 6.3.6 version for Christmas and my first reaction was WOW !
